What happened to Peng Shuai?

Former doubles world No 1 Peng Shuai had a three-week public absence after allegations that a former senior Chinese official sexually assaulted her. The International Olympic Committee said its president had held a 30-minute video call with Shuai on Nov. 21, 2021, and quoted her as saying she was “safe and well, living at her home in Beijing, but would like to have her privacy respected at this time.” Chinese state media have published photos and videos of Peng at a tennis tournament in Beijing and a restaurant the same week. Still, the Women’s Tennis Association said it remained worried about Peng’s “ability to communicate without censorship or coercion.”

On Feb. 6, 2022, Queen Elizabeth II became the first British monarch to reign for seven decades. Festivities marking the anniversary will peek in a four-day weekend beginning on Thursday, June 2, with the annual military parade that marks the queen’s 70th coronation anniversary, also known as her “official birthday.” The queen will be celebrating her 96th birthday.

Former Downton Abbey’s Lady Rose, English actress and model Lily James, transformed into Pamela Anderson in the new HULU eight-part biopic series, Pam & Tommy. The series also stars Sebastian Stan as Motley Crue drummer Tommy Lee and Seth Rogen and Parks and Recreation’s Nick Offerman as the men who stole their famous sex tape. The actual Pamela Anderson hasn’t been involved in Pam & Tommy, which streams on Hulu in the US and Disney+ in the UK from Feb. 2, 2022.

Will Arnett is best known for his roles as Gob Bluth in the Fox/Netflix series Arrested Development. Gob being short for George Oscar Bluth Jr., pronounced “Jobe” (rhyming with “robe”).

What’s Murderville?

Netflix’s Murderville is an improvisational crime comedy. Will Arnett plays detective Terry Seattle, who teams up with celebrity guest stars to investigate a series of murders. The six-episode series streams beginning Feb. 3, 2022, on Netflix.

“The Harder They Fall,” featuring Regina King, Jonathan Majors, Idris Elba, and LaKeith Stanfield, is a western produced for Netflix by Jay-Z (credited as Shawn Carter), based on real Black characters from the Old West. On Jan. 18, 2022, the film was nominated for 12 NAACP Image Awards, including for best picture. The two-hour awards show will be broadcast on BET on Feb. 26, 2022.
